1. Stay focused and keep your hands on the wheel! Many accidents are caused by people trying to multitask while driving, remember that it is illegal to do other tasks while driving, this include using your hand operated mobile phone, remember that whether you are talking or texting it means that you do not have your full attention on the road and your hands on the wheel.
2. Keep your eyes moving Regularly check you mirrors, as well as scanning the road ahead for hazards and slowing traffic, this way you can anticipate any problems before they develop.
3. Drive the speed which most other vehicles are going. It's true that driving too fast is dangerous, but driving too slow can cause real problems too, so keep watch of the traffic around you and regulate your speed accordingly.
4. Space your car from the cars in front of you. Use the two second rule, make sure there's about 2 seconds between where you are the previous car is. This decreases the chance of a rear end collision when cars in front make a sudden stop.
5. Don't be invisible! There are a great many accidents that occur because drivers could not see the other car! In order to avoid this, you need to make your presence known. Use your indicators, headlights, break-lights and avoid blind spots.
6. Stay calm! Sometimes other drivers can infuriate you, but responding with the same tactics can be very dangerous. Resist road rage.
7. Note road conditions and adapt your driving accordingly. Light rain can produce dangerous conditions, and can make roads slippy. Tires lose their grip at high speeds, so keeping your speed lower in such conditions is a good way to reduce risk.
8. Abide the speed limit Speeding is illegal and dangerous, unless you want to be charged with it, resulting in legal consiquences or physical harm, Be aware of the speed limit of the drop you are driving on by looking out for signs.
There are many more things you need to consider when driving, but here are a few things for you to think about as you learn!
